We’re excited to announce the launch of Nephio Release 4 (R4), a significant milestone in cloud-native network automation. This release introduces key advancements, including:
- O-RAN IMS Integration: Support for (pre-standard) O-RAN O2 IMS and SMO FOCOM interfaces, enabling end-to-end O-RAN cluster lifecycle management.
- FluxCD GitOps Automation: Native FluxCD integration for GitOps-driven network function deployments, enhancing consistency, drift detection, and self-healing.
- Platform & UI Improvements: Enhanced performance, scalability, and security, with a refreshed UI, real-time topology dashboards, and a new drag-and-drop Template Studio.
- Security Enhancements: Early SPIFFE/SPIRE integration for workload identity management, advancing zero-trust automation.
Looking ahead, Nephio’s roadmap includes further O-RAN integration, deeper collaborations with projects like Sylva and CAMARA, and exploration of GenAI for simplifying intent generation and workflows.
